The SAMAA LIVE Festival Pictorial Highlights
On October 10 and 11, 2009, Awareness Raising Team of PWP participated in Live Festival with Samaa TV under its Mass Media Outreach Programme’s banner of Corporate Social Responsibility. The SAMAA LIVE Festival has taken onto itselfto spread the message of Peace, Unity, Hope, and Awareness to the people of Pakistan. PWP celebrates “Life with the People of Lahore” through a 2-day fun filled event to lift the spirit of public in these challenging times. The event took off with a grand opening by the Chief Guest Mr. Salman Taseer, Governor of Punjab at the Fortress Stadium.

Participants of the event were sensitized on issues related to Health, Education, and Environment besides social issues that the people of Pakistan are confronted with. A whooping 400,000 enthusiasts visited the festival launched under the theme “Celebrating Life”.
The Festival was arranged in different pavilions under various themes: Health, Education, and Environment. Each pavilion provided information on these subjects; free of charge. Visitors and delegates were provided ample opportunities to learn more about their subjects of interest.
To conserve globally important wetlands and the biodiversity of Pakistan, the PWP participated by providing quality material on environmental education, awareness and facts based on scientific evidence to the benefits of society and visitors of all ages. All the visitors showed great interest in the stall established by PWP. School staff, delegates from other organizations, and children and families were encouraged to make queries who showed interest in knowing more about PWP and what it stands for.

Step to make the society aware about Wetlands, their functions, ecosystems, and their biodiversity were greatly appreciated by Mr. Jonathan Mark, Director Sales, SAMAA TV. He said that people of Pakistan have a key part to play in our economy, the environment and our everyday lives. Mr. Mark expressed his profound gratitude to PWP and WWF-P that came forward and joined hands for this noble cause.The pavilion of Environment, was represented by Pakistan Wetlands Programme and WWF-P, Lahore.
